Recent data shows that while Americans felt a bit more positive about current conditions in mid-Q3, their overall confidence actually hit a seven-month low. The present-conditions index climbed about 7 points to 121, but expectations for income, business, and jobs over the coming months slipped\u2014down about 6 points to 68, a number that\u2019s historically been linked to recession concerns.<\/p>\n<p>In early Q3, we also saw employers cut 23,000 jobs and unemployment edge up to around 4%. Interestingly, this wasn\u2019t because hiring picked up, but rather because more people left the workforce. Even so, homebuying sentiment only eased slightly and actually continued to trend upward, with about 61% of people still anticipating higher interest rates ahead. With federal policymakers holding rates steady and the market not expecting much immediate relief, it looks like borrowing costs will remain elevated as we head toward year-end.<\/p>\n<p>As always, my approach is to help you navigate these changing currents with clarity and trust.
